Iconic Health: Home Made Vanilla Almond Milk

Recently, I have found myself in conversations about breakfast smoothies a lot. Inevitably, somewhere in the conversation, the topic of homemade nut milk comes up. People are usually surprised, or at least curious about how to make your own nut milk. This inspired me to share with you guys my super simple, and easy, go-to recipe for home made almond milk. It only takes a few minutes, and you avoid all of those crazy additives and preservatives that you find in most store bought brands. An extra bonus is that I think fresh almond milk blows the store bought kind away, in regards to flavor.

what you'll need:

1 cup rinsed and soaked over night almonds

4 cups filtered water

4 tsp vanilla extract

pinch of sea salt

nut milk bag

Directions:

Pour the 4 cups water into a blender. Strain, rinse, and add the soaked almonds. Add the vanilla extract and pinch of sea salt. Blend for approximately 30 seconds. Strain through a nut milk bag. Store in an air tight, preferably glass, container for up to 4 days in fridge.

So simple, right?

Enjoy!
